SW:TFU2 Starkiller's Sabers by JamesVillanueva SW:TFU2 Starkiller's Sabers by JamesVillanueva
Starkiller's Lightsabers from Star Wars The Force Unleashed II.

Star Wars and related items are (c) Lucasfilms LTD.
Lightsaber design are (c) LucasArts and based on a combination of posters and replicas I have seen.

After looking at the examples I was surprised that they used the shroud of Ven Zallow and the pommel of Darth Malgus in the same saber.

I hope you'll some day do a redo of these hilts to match the ones from the trailer. These aren't bad but the hilts from the Betrayal -trailer just look awesome, way better then the ones from the actual game.

I did manage a few screencaps of the hilts, unfortunatelly Youtube did not have the 1080p version of the trailer available despite some videos which did advertise it. So I apologize for the somewhat poor quality of the screenshots.

It might be a trick of the light, but I like how the hilts look much more darker and how they're also thinner and less bulky than the ones from TOR.

Thanks for the links, I had based my models on the poster and a replica linked here [link] before the game and any trailers came out.

No problem. The replica isn't bad, but it seems a bit beefy to me. But without pictures of some one holding the hilts it's a bit hard to do an actual comparison on the size.

I could probably do the actual models pretty easily myself, but I'm pants at trying to use materials and what not to make good renders. Most of the 3D -stuff I do are actually for various mods on different games so the textures I do for them tend to be built on what the various game engines support.

Wow, that really looks a lot closer to the trailer-version. You managed to get the likeness of the rags Starkiller had wrapped around the handle to the T. The slightly darker metal for the emitter shield also looks good (In the hilt that doesn't have the blade on). The only improvement suggestions that I have when I compare the hilt to the screen caps are:

- Adjust the black part, where the activation-button is just before the emitter shield. Looking at the pictures they seem to be the same thickness, they are slightly thinner than the rest of the handle and there is a small groove between them.
- The hilt does have a black control box in exactly the same place as you had in your previous model (It just doesn't show well in the screen caps except in these --> [link] [link]). I think the top of the control box is supposed to be similar to what you see with Luke's ROTJ-hilts, only with a silver metal on black. There's no accurate pictures of it available :(
- The pommel also seems to have black rubbery studs in the raised areas around the groove, which are the same length as the grooves themselves. But those aren't necessarily needed as I think that this version of the pommel also looks good..

When this is finished it will definitely be on my favorites. You do a really good work :)

Ps. I'm going to drop a PM to Tom Hodges about the permission for his saber design (I was too tired to do it yesterday). I'll ask him to drop you a note as well if he allows it.

This was the frame I lightened up but I don't see a control box [link] unless they are opposite sides. Here is a test render [link] with a smaller control box .

I think those hilts in the screenshot are actually built to match the hand you wield them with, which means the controls are reversed for the other hilt. That's why you don't see the boxes in the picture as they are on the opposite sides of the hilt.

In the links I posted earlier you can see it in the one where Starkiller has his hand thrust forward as he's gripping that droid with the force. It's just visible near his pinky and ring -fingers. The other picture with the saberblade on also shows it, but it's not as accurate.

I think it's supposed to be the same size as the control box you had in these earlier versions (it seems to be in the right position as far as I can tell) but other than that, looking at the test version I'd say you've pretty much got the entire model spot on. The hilt looks pretty much exactly like it does in the screencaps. And it looks good :)

It'll definitely go to my favorites ;)
